Japanese Bamboo Art from New York: The Abbey Collection
- Gifts to The Metropolitan Museum of Art
Adapted from "Japanese Bamboo Art: The Abbey Collection" organized by The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, this exhibition introduces the bamboo artworks which well-known art collector the Abbeys had acquired. The collection includes Oita's great Shounsai Shono, the first Living National Treasure in the field of bamboo craft, as well as the representative figures who made a legacy. With 75 works by 44 artists, this is the first occasion to show Abbey Collection in Japan. From traditional flower basket to contemporary dynamic sculpture, we hope you enjoy various expression and possibility of bamboo.
