Wales × Oita Friendship Exchange - The Art of Wales Exhibition in Oita
The Rugby World Cup 2019 Japan will be held from September 20th to November 2rd in Japan, and Oita as one of the venues. " Wales × Oita Friendship Exchange - The Art of Wales Exhibition in Oita " will held at Oita Prefectural Art Museum (OPAM) from 27th September to 27th October. The exhibition aims to enhance the friendship exchange between Oita and Wales during the Rugby World Cup Japan 2019™.
Wales is known not only as a rugby powerful team, but also as the ‘King Arthur's legend’ depicting a British medieval hero and a stage for the novel ‘Alice in Wonderland’ written by Lewis Carroll.
Works created by 13 artists will be exhibited. Julia Brooker, an acrylic painter, who works worldwide for example Europe, Hong Kong, Japan and so on. Chris Bird-Jones and Amber Hiscott, who work extensively on works of Glass Art and Public Art. Ten artists from Fireworks Clay Studio are exhibiting their unique ceramics. Dance Performance: RYGBI-ANNWYL I MI / DEAR TO ME
“The Art of Wales” will be held at the Oita Prefectural Art Museum for the purpose of friendly exchange between Wales and Oita. As a related project, "National Dance Company Wales", a contemporary dance organization established in 1983 and funded by the Arts Council of Wales, will perform dance performances. The program is “RYGBI-ANNWYL I MI / DEAR TO ME”, an original short film that expresses human hope, glory, passion, etc. with rugby as the theme. Please take this opportunity to enjoy the performances of dancers active all over the world.
