In the twentieth century, Dutch modern design had a great influence on society and inspired people all over the world. Among those influenced were carpenter and architect, Gerrit Thomas Rietveld, who was a representative of Modernism, graphic designer Dick Bruna, famous for being the creator of “Miffy (nijntje),” and Ko Verzuu, designer of ADO toys, who worked guiding patients recuperating in a sanatorium in order to create toys. These men can be called representative designers. Through the works of these three great designers who were nurtured by the history and culture of the Netherlands, this exhibition will explore the essence of Dutch modern design, which continues even now to have a great influence on modern people’s thoughts and lifestyles.
